From helping oversee industrial production, to playing an integral part in many daily activities, technological advances in robotics are transforming the way we live and work. Robotic systems today have come on leaps and bounds since the beginnings of autonomous robot navigation over two decades ago. Thanks to advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, robots are now able to respond to complex commands and operate autonomously within safety environments. AI-powered vision algorithms and deep learning techniques have enabled robots to detect objects and obstructions with greater accuracy than before, and then respond accordingly—faster, cheaper, and smoother than human workers ever could. Robotic arms will also see a major difference in 2023 with greater precision for smaller parts. These robotic arms employ multi-axis 6 DOF articulated robotics with precise joint control to ensure optimal accuracy for assembly operations. They can also be equipped with grippers or end effectors developed specifically to their application requirements. Furthermore, some robotic arms are now able to detect their own mistakes in order to minimize errors throughout the manufacturing process. In terms of home automation, there have been significant improvements in robotic vacuum cleaner designs over the last decade. The latest models are equipped with AI algorithm that enables them to map out any area with greater accuracy than before; thereby providing better cleaning results. These robots can detect obstacles and objects such as furniture, carpets, stairs and drawing rooms automatically so they are able to move around more effectively while avoiding damage to surrounding items. In addition to home automated products, 2023 is seeing the emergence of robotic medical equipment which can be used for diagnostics and surgery procedures. These medical robots employ AI algorithms for accurate diagnostic readings and data collection which can be used for patient care decisions. Some of these technologies can even be deployed remotely into patients’ homes for ongoing monitoring aftercare. Finally, with the development of autonomous vehicle technologies enabling cars and drones to navigate roads without a driver by 2023, there is no doubt that robotics play an increasingly important role in our lives from manufacturing, warehousing and product delivery; to medical services and even space exploration. As advancements continue in the future, it is sure that many more new applications using robotics will be created that we have not yet thought of in 2023.
